This is a great example of how I think things are supposed to be between the people and God. God has given each of us gifting to do what it is that we do. We should do the work that God has laid out before us. But we should take all direction from God.
Scripture
“Whenever the cloud lifted from over the sacred tent, the people of Israel would break camp and follow it. And wherever the cloud settled, the people of Israel would set up camp. In this way, they traveled and camped at the Lord’s command wherever he told them to go. Numbers 7:17-18″ (NLT)
Observation
When God’s presence rests in one area we should camp out, we don’t need to be told what to do when we are camped out, we do those things that we do best or that we have been called to. When God moves we need to see the movement and allow him to lead us. God doesn’t want a passive relationship, he want’s you to know him, and he wants you to allow him to lead the way.
Application
I for one need to be attentive to the movement of God and be willing and able to follow Gods lead when he moves in a new direction.
Prayer
God, can you show me a firey cloud so that I can better see your movement?
