We are God’s House

Scripture

3 But Jesus deserves far more glory than Moses, just as a person who builds a house deserves more praise than the house itself. 4 For every house has a builder, but the one who built everything is God.

5 Moses was certainly faithful in God’s house as a servant. His work was an illustration of the truths God would reveal later. 6 But Christ, as the Son, is in charge of God’s entire house. And we are God’s house, if we keep our courage and remain confident in our hope in Christ. (Hebrews 3:3-6)

Observation

When we look at a beautiful house or a lovely painting, we know that there was a very talented architect or artist behind the work.  We can admire the painting, but not without admiring the artist who created it.  We are a created work.  “We are God’s house” (v.6).  God created us; he built us.  He is the Master designer.

Application

What do people see when they look at me?  Am I a masterpiece?  Can people see that I am God’s house?  Do they see God’s masterful artistry in my life?

Prayer

Lord God, creator of everything.  Please teach me to let Your glory shine through me.  Take away any pride or rebellion that would cloud Your masterful design in my life.  Let people see Your awesome character in my life.  I know that I am a work in progress.  You are still working on me and creating Your home inside me.  Forgive me where I rebell against Your work.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
