What Separates Christianity from Other Religions?

2 Chronicles 6,7
Psalm 135
Romans 4

Scripture

13 Clearly, God’s promise to give the whole earth to Abraham and his descendants was based not on his obedience to God’s law, but on a right relationship with God that comes by faith. (Ro 4:13)

Observation

I really despise that song, “Father Abraham”.  It goes on and on an on and on. . .  and on and on and on. . .  I’ve never really thought of the meaning much, though.  Abraham is the father of many nations.  Not just Israel.  Abraham was chosen before circumcision; before the formation of the nation of Israel; before Moses and the Ten Commandments.  Abraham is the father of all who believe through FAITH.

So, how does that separate Christianity from other religions?  Abraham was God’s friend.  He followed God through faith.  He did not have a set written words to follow; they were written on his heart.

14 Even Gentiles, who do not have God’s written law, show that they know his law when they instinctively obey it, even without having heard it. (Ro 2:14)

What separated Abraham from the other Gentiles?  Why did God choose him?  His “right relationship with God that comes by faith.”

Application

Our personal one-to-one relationship with the Creator of the Universe, through faith in Jesus Christ, is what separates us from other religions.  We don’t have to DO anything to gain access to God.  God is personally involved in our lives and actually lives within us.  We do not need to go to a temple, or mosque, or pagoda in order to pray to Him.  We do not need a set of laws, for they are written in our hearts.

Prayer

Thank-you Father God, for loving us so much.  Thank you for creating a family.  I pray that those who do not yet know the wonders of living a life in relationship with You will find You.  Forgive us for placing laws and stipulations on people who are searching.  Help us to exemplify you by merely having relationship with non-believers rather than scorn them or condemn them.
